We take the health and well being of our parent dogs and puppies very seriously and make it our top priority to keep them in a safe, controlled environment, free from exposure to serious and potentially life threating viruses such as the deadly Parvovirus.

 Our visitors policy has been implemented to not only protect our dogs and puppies from harm, but to also protect those clients who have a vested interest in a litter. 

We limit visitations to only those families who have a deposit in place for a puppy and wish to schedule a time to come visit us to pick out their puppy at 6 wks, or to pick up their puppy at 8 wks.

What exactly is Parvovirus and how is it transmitted?

The canine parvovirus (CPV) infection is a highly contagious viral illness that affects dogs. The virus manifests itself in two different forms. The more common form is the intestinal form, which is characterized by vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, and lack of appetite (anorexia). The less common form is the cardiac form, which attacks the heart muscles of very young puppies, often leading to death. The majority of cases are seen in puppies that are between six weeks and six months old. The incidence of canine parvovirus infections has been reduced radically by early vaccination in young puppies. Parvovirus is extremely contagious and can be transmitted by any person, animal or object that comes in contact with an infected dog's feces. Highly resistant, the virus can live in the environment for months, and may survive on inanimate objects such as food bowls, shoes, clothes, carpet and floors. There is evidence that the virus can live in ground soil for up to a year. It is resistant to most cleaning products, or even to weather changes.
